Teahouses, stages and folk activities, which are prosperous due to economic activities, provide a stage for the performance of Jiangnan erhu. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, a variety of bow and string instruments of Hu Qin were popular in Jiangnan. Since modern times, several generations of musicians born and raised in Jiangnan, such as Zhou Shaomei, Liu Tianhua, Hua Yanjun (Ah Bing), Sun Wenming, have made outstanding contributions to the professional development of erhu performance art.
