On the evening of November 11, the third round of the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra's live performance of "Folk Music Born on the Sea" concluded at Cadillac Shanghai Concert Hall. This is not only a audio-visual feast, but also a dialogue between rhythm, culture and soul, which awakens the audience's deep recognition and touching.
Two pipa are used to play the role of Bawang and Yu Ji respectively, which complement the performance of Beijing Opera, telling the profound love, delicate and graceful, and deeply moving.
"Living Folk Music on the Sea seems to inject new vitality into contemporary folk music and is popular among young people. The development of folk music now is amazing. It's really great!" Since its residence in Shanghai, "Folk Music from the Sea" has been widely praised by the audience and triggered the audience's emotional resonance. The immersive experience of traditional Chinese music responds to the contemporary public's aesthetic demand for traditional culture and art, adds new cultural connotation to Shanghai, and gradually makes it a phenomenon folk music performance.
"Sea Folk Music" has been continuously polished in three consecutive rounds of resident performances. In this round of residence, the orchestra presented an upgraded version of the Ink Opera, and selected the multimedia screen of the master Wang Xizhi's Lanting Collection Preface. The use of modern aesthetic design, the calligraphy works and the stage tone artistic processing, music flow, smooth, flowing, elegant prose quality. Guzheng performance with the Chinese dance of the water sleeve posture, rigid and flexible, virtual and real life, highlighting the calligraphy art of flowing rhyme, rhythm and line beauty. The background picture of "Landscape" is a rare collection of Shanghai Museum -- Yuan Dynasty painter Qian Xuan's "Fu Yu Mountain Residence". The multimedia team specially consulted Ling Lizhong, director of calligraphy and painting department of Shanghai Museum. In the process of painting, multimedia technology to make the picture move up, along with the scroll slowly spread, or mountains steep, vertical and horizontal, or misty landscape, white mist around, Konghou, ruan, sheng, Zheng and other seven instruments like "seven sages of bamboo forest" leisurely into the painting, flying between the mountains and fog shadow, ancient, to happy friends, and the audience to go to the landscape. The newly upgraded "Crossing" takes great consideration in lighting design. Under the cool light and shadow, the suona and electro-acoustic band convey the same resonance of tradition and contemporary, which makes people marvel at the infinite charm of the folk music stage.
For each piece, the orchestra was equipped with multiple groups of actors for 29 performances for 25 consecutive days. The audience could not only enjoy the wonderful performance of the orchestra's "mainstay", but also generations of new generation of young performers stood out on the stage of "Folk Music from the Sea". Jiang Feng, Yan Jinlong, Lu Shasha, Jiang Yuanqing and others have shown their excellent professional quality. Several post-90s performers who joined the troupe last year have also emerged. Jin Kai, chief of the Bamboo Flute Voice Section of Shanghai Chinese Orchestra, says, "Resident performances have high requirements for performers. They need to maintain stability, ponder over music, express more possibilities, and improve the interpretation of the connotation of music. All these need to be honed and accumulated by every bit of stage practice."

During the performance, the "Sea" literary creation has been constantly updated, echoing the beauty of traditional Chinese music delivered by the performance. Shanghai Concert Hall has designed more than 10 kinds of cultural and creative products for the performance, including sackcloth bags, ceramic coasters, customized silk scarves, stickers and masks. Among them, the "sea" limited derivative gift bag, which is deeply loved by the audience, has become a special "hand gift" of Chinese music.
