Balangzikumu is a Tajik plucked stringed musical instrument. Popular in Tashkurgan Tajik Autonomous County, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. It has a long history and a large body.

The Balangzikumu is an alto-stringed musical instrument, very similar in shape to Rebubu, but larger. It is said that it is the predecessor of the Uyghur Dolangjewafu, which was passed down from the Pamirs to the Megaiti area.

In the old society, people could not play the balanzi wood during festivities, singing and dancing, and daily entertainment. They could only play it during funerals. According to superstitious legends, the barangzi wood represents the voice of "Hu Da" (God), and only with its accompaniment can the deceased be sent to heaven.

After the liberation, the Tajiks broke the superstition and used the barangzi wood for singing and dancing accompaniment. When playing, the right hand uses a wooden pick to play, the pronunciation is loud and vigorous, and the tone is softer and lower than that of Hot Bubu. At present, the scope of use of this instrument is still very small. With the development of Tajik folk bands, Balangzi Kuomu will be a promising middle-music instrument.
