The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts held a concert on the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on the evening of the 8th. A group of musicians joined hands at the Hong Kong Jockey Club Performing Arts Theatre to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. The concert was also broadcast live on the website of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and RTHK TV, allowing Hong Kong citizens and mainland audiences to enjoy the concert together.
The concert is hosted by the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, sponsored by Swire Group, supported and participated by Xinghai Conservatory of Music, Shenzhen Art School and Macau Youth Symphony Orchestra Association.
The concert was conducted by the conductor and head of the Cultural Leadership (Music) Department of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Choi Minde, who conducted the Performing Arts Symphony Orchestra to perform three orchestral pieces, including Hong Kong composer Zhang Peishan's award-winning work "Da Pai Dang", and Chinese composer Wang Danhong's performance. The Guzheng Concerto "As It Is" and together with the Performing Arts Choir performed Beethoven's majestic "C Minor Choral Fantasia" Opus 80.
Ma Hang, a young guzheng performer and a guzheng teacher at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, who played the guzheng concerto "As It Is", told reporters after the performance that he could cooperate with the Symphony Orchestra in a way that combines Chinese and Western styles on the international stage of the Hong Kong Jockey Club Performing Arts Theatre. Playing the traditional Chinese zither instrument concerto is a dedication to the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland and the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. It is believed that Hong Kong will strive to become a cultural and artistic exchange center between China and foreign countries with its unique advantages of integrating China and the West.
