Recently, Bai Muran, a girl from Xuzhou, received an admission letter from the Central Conservatory of Music. She was admitted to the school's dulcimer major with the first grade in her major. At the age of 5, Bai Muran started to learn the piano. After many cold and summer trips, Bai Muran finally fulfilled her dream of dulcimer. It is worth mentioning that 6 years ago, Bai Muran was the only qualified student in the country to be admitted to the High School Attached to the Central Conservatory of Music.
Bai Muran first came into contact with dulcimer at the age of 5. She was immediately attracted to this crisp and melodious musical instrument. With the support of her family, she began to study with Li Baoyin, an old dulcimer in Xuzhou.
In order to keep Bai Muran interested, the teacher discussed with her family and only allowed her to practice for half an hour at a time. Sure enough, after a few years, Bai Muran's interest did not diminish at all. She has successively passed the 10-level dulcimer professional certification of the Jiangsu Musicians Association and the 10-level dulcimer certification of the Chinese National Orchestra Society.
In the summer of 2015, the family decided to let Bai Muran embark on a professional path. To this end, the family did not hesitate to send their children to study in Beijing. In July of that year, my grandfather first brought Bai Muran to Beijing to seek advice from Professor Huang He, a famous dulcimer educator and performer. In order to learn the piano, the grandfather and grandson could only rent a basement near the middle school attached to the Central Conservatory of Music. In winter, the temperature is as low as minus 17 degrees Celsius. It is under such conditions that Bai Muran insists on practicing the piano for five or six hours a day.
At the beginning of April 2016, Bai Muran passed the professional examination and cultural course examination of the Central Conservatory of Music Affiliated High School with excellent results. It is understood that the admissions of the Yangyin High School are very strict. The Yangqin major has not recruited qualified students for two consecutive years, and only 2 students were enrolled in the plan that year. In the end, only Bai Muran passed the examination.
Grandpa Bai Maoling introduced that Bai Muran not only played dulcimer well, but also cucurbit flute when he was a child, and his academic performance has always been in the top 5 in the class. "Learning dulcimer is very helpful to Mu Ran's study, especially in reading comprehension. She can always quickly understand the meaning of the article, and she can always express delicate emotions when writing."
Shen Jian, a yangqin teacher who has taught Bai Muran for 6 years and president of Xuzhou Yangqin Society, also praised Muran: "Bai Muran is very energetic in learning the qin, and feels good. She is a child who can practice the qin, especially her explosive power. She is strong, has a strong sense of performance, and can endure hardship, these are all her advantages..."
In September 2016, Bai Muran left her family and entered the Central Sound Affiliated Middle School by herself, and began to live and study at the school. "I adapted very quickly at school, and my classmates and teachers were very helpful, so I didn't encounter any difficulties in my studies." According to Bai Muran, Wang Se and Wang Yujue were her yangqin teachers, and they had been guiding her carefully. For a while, I was fortunate to follow my teacher to Tianjin to participate in the special performance of the Tianjin Conservatory of Music on the national tour of Wang Yujue's yangqin concert. Soon, she also participated in teacher-student concerts held at the college and gained a lot of on-the-spot experience.
Three years of high school, three years of epidemic. In 2020, the sudden outbreak of new coronary pneumonia has also had a big impact on her high school life. Even several semesters of cultural classes can only be conducted online, which is very difficult for Bai Muran, who is slightly lacking in cultural classes. .
"Since I entered the Central Music High School, I set a goal for myself - to be admitted to the Central Conservatory of Music, majoring in dulcimer. In order to prepare for the exam, I set a schedule for myself, what time to get up every day, what time to practice the piano, and what time to study. , all in strict accordance with the schedule.” Bai Muran said that the pressure of her professional performance is also very great, although she is a dulcimer major in the attached middle school, but candidates from other schools will also bring competition, so there is a competitive pressure in the university entrance examination. Very big, "I was also very afraid that I would not perform well in the exam, and I could only make myself more stable by practicing over and over again."
In order to let the children prepare for the exam with peace of mind, Bai Muran's grandfather and grandmother came to Beijing to accompany the exam again. "My grandparents helped me a lot. They gave me the greatest guarantee in life, and they ensured that I could practice the piano for 8 to 10 hours a day before the art exam." Bai Muran said.
Due to the impact of the epidemic, CCNY chose to submit a video exam for the first and second professional exams this time, while the solfeggio test was conducted online. "The hardships are too difficult. Fortunately, our husband and wife are in Beijing, otherwise the child will be left alone. , it is impossible to fulfill all kinds of requirements." Bai Maoling, Bai Muran's grandfather, said.
According to reports, the professional preliminary examination requires the submission of two songs "Cloud" and "Yaoshan Night Talk". Bai Muran played normally, and the recording was completed soon in the recording studio, and it was submitted at the specified time in late February. The re-examination requires that the video be submitted before 12 noon on March 21, but during the first recording on the 18th, the strings of the dulcimer broke twice, and the nervousness directly affected Bai Muran's performance. It's only an hour away, and there are others who want to use the shed behind, so we can only go back first." Bai Maoling said.
That night, Bai Maoling hurriedly contacted a recording studio several kilometers away. The next day, the grandparents played the dulcimer back and forth. Because it was a retest, not a single sound could be wrong, Bai Muran was under a lot of pressure, and couldn't record a satisfactory video for two hours. "The child is a performer and can perform exceptionally every time on the stage. I told her to show your feelings on the stage, let's try it once..." Grandpa also kept encouraging Mu Ran. In the end, when she rented a studio for the third time the next afternoon, she successfully recorded it once.
The subsequent online solfeggio exam was even more "stunning". It is required to prepare a computer, a camera, and a mobile phone for dual video connection, and the connection cannot be disconnected in the middle, otherwise the test will be regarded as the end of the interruption. "We quickly borrowed a high-performance computer from a friend in Beijing and rented a camera." Grandpa said that the rental environment and internet speed were not up to the requirements, so he went to several hotels and booked a room. " On the day of the exam, we were even afraid that someone would turn off the power and let the grandmother of the child guard the power distribution room, and no one was allowed to approach…”
The hard work pays off, Bai Muran performed extremely well in the art exam, "When the results came out, I saw that I was admitted to the school of my dreams with the first grade in the major. I felt that all the hard work was worth it."
