The first half of the concert opened with "The Soaring Bossanova". Accompanied by the distinct rhythm of Bossanova, the suona players talked to each other. Love; Suona is paired with piano and drum set to perform the blues style "Day and Night", which has a jazzy style; the performers of the wind and percussion part of the Hunan National Orchestra brought the wind and percussion "Broken Wind", which broadened the scope of "wind and percussion". The interpretation technique maximizes the expressive power of traditional northern wind and percussion music.
In the second half, the 2022 National Art Fund-funded project "Ode to the Kylin" was specially staged. This work was tailored by the young composer Kong Zhixuan for Liu Wenwen. It was taken from the drum music of Southwest Shandong and the Bangzi Opera of Shandong, and was created by using the variation of traditional melody. , new ideas emerge one after another, with shocking artistic power. Afterwards, "Love in Xiangjiang River" brought by suona player Xie Zhenhai of the Hunan Chinese Orchestra blew out the nostalgia of the children of Xiangjiang River for their mother river; The euphemistic performance is touching. "Golden Age" uses Henan Opera's voice style, with cheerful rhythm, smooth melody, distinct layers and vigor, yet traditional and full of sense of the times. Finally, Liu Wenwen and the suona players of the Hunan Chinese Orchestra performed a classic "A Hundred Birds Facing the Phoenix", and the atmosphere was warm.
The whole concert is rich in repertoire, not only the fusion of tradition and modernity, but also the collision of East and West. The young suona performer Liu Wenwen has given new vitality to the ancient suona instrument, playing a different kind of elegance and romance. While cultivating traditional works, Liu Wenwen is also trying more new possibilities to promote the integration of folk music with the world, and let the people of the world know different suona. The Hunan National Orchestra is upright and innovative.
