The right hand is the most flexible hand, and the traditional way of playing the guzheng is to use the right hand to pluck the strings and play the melody, and the left hand to decorate the melody by pressing, shaking and pushing on the outer strings.
When playing the zither string with the right hand, the big finger, the index finger and the middle finger are the main ones, followed by the ring finger, and the little finger is rarely used. In the comprehensive training of the fingers, special attention should be paid to the training of the plucking of the big finger. In zheng music, the pizzicato of the main melody is mainly borne by the big finger.
Big joint for thumb picking. The large joint refers to the joint where the big finger borders the base of the palm. It is easy to maintain the slanting angle of the string under the slanting angle when the big finger is used to pick the string with the large joint. From this angle, the pronunciation is strong and the tone is better. In addition, care should be taken to keep the big finger and the zheng string too vertical and slightly inclined to the natural inclination of Qianyueshan.
Small joints for index finger plucking. It refers to the slightly curved first and second joints of the index finger, and the curvature of the second joint is the main one.
When touching the strings, avoid the method of plucking the strings upward, and try to make the timbre of the big and middle fingers touch the strings as much as possible.
The large joint used for the middle finger plucking refers to the joint between the middle finger and the palm. The middle finger is about the same angle as the big finger, that is, the plucked string diagonally below. The middle finger and the string of the zheng maintain an angle of about 45 degrees, and the natural slope is slightly inclined to Qianyueshan.
The ring finger sometimes sticks in Yueshan, and sometimes plucks the strings of the zither. When plucking the strings, the small joints are generally used. When the strings are not touched, they are naturally relaxed and slightly lifted. Be careful not to touch the strings.
The little finger remains naturally relaxed and slightly lifted during the performance. In some long arpeggios, the little finger is sometimes used in conjunction with the plucks.
From the bass to the treble, there is a concept of slashes. The position of the right hand plucking is 3.5 cm away from Qianyueshan in the treble area and about 7.5 cm in the bass area. Draw a straight line (actually an arc) from the plucking point of the lowest tone to the plucking point of the highest tone. The diagonal line is the basic position of the right hand plucking. Due to the need for timbre contrast in the music, the position of the plucking point is often changed, and sometimes the plucking point is at one-third of the string or close to Qianyueshan.
