Bolu is a clarinet gas-sounding instrument of the Zhuang people. The Zhuang language "wave" means blowing, "lu" is a small bamboo tube for spinning and winding threads, and "bolu" means blowing a small bamboo tube. Popular in Fengshan, Donglan, Bama and other places in Hechi area of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Bolu tube body is made of bamboo, the tube length is 40 cm, the upper end is closed with a bamboo joint, the lower end is open, the outer diameter is 1.8 cm, and the inner diameter is 1.2 cm. Thin and flatten the frontal tube wall 3 cm below the head end, and use a sharp knife to carve a rectangular bamboo reed, the reed is 2.5 cm long and 0.5 cm wide, the reed root is connected to the bamboo joint, and the reed tongue faces down. There are seven (six in the front and one in the back) circular sound-pressing holes in the middle and lower part of the pipe body. The front side is one to six holes, and the seventh hole is the back hole.
