Generally can be classified into three types: thoracic breathing, abdominal breathing, thoracic and abdominal breathing (mixed breathing). The accepted scientific method is the mixed breathing method. Its superiority is manifested in the coordinated action of the entire respiratory muscle group to form a whole movement, so the inhalation of the breath is large, the breath is deeper, and it is easy to control when exhaling.
In the mixed breathing method, the so-called breathing includes the two aspects of "inhalation" and "exhalation". When inhaling, relax all parts of the body, inhale through the mouth and nose at the same time, be careful not to lift the shoulders and bring out any sound. Mixed breathing is to inhale into the lower abdomen, between the chest and abdomen, and into the chest cavity. Lifting the shoulders will hinder the sinking of the breath and store the breath in the chest cavity, which becomes chest breathing. to avoid.
Inhale as much air as possible, expand the lung lobes, and naturally expand the middle and lower thoracic and abdominal cavities outward to lower the diaphragm. After the breath, the breath sinks. At this time, the abdomen and waist are full of breath, while the chest feels more relaxed. The correct gas storage sites should be the lower thoracic cavity and abdominal cavity. Therefore, when inhaling, not only can the abdomen not contract inwards, but also bulge slightly outwards, and the waist also expands around.
The practice of inhalation method is very important. The most used in wind music is chi. If the chi is not used correctly, not only will it not be able to perform well, but it will also seriously affect the health of the body. Here are several methods. First, blow out all the breath in the chest and abdomen, and then inhale while the whole body is very relaxed. If there is a feeling of cold air entering the chest and abdominal cavity at this time, it means that the inhalation method and the gas storage location are basically correct. Secondly, you can also experience the inhalation action of deep inhalation after smelling the fragrance of flowers and strenuous exercise (such as long-distance running, mountain climbing, etc.). Inhalation when playing requires a large amount of air to be inhaled in a relatively short period of time. Therefore, the mouth and nose are generally inhaled at the same time to relax the throat.
When exhaling, the abdominal muscles, psoas and diaphragm are required to be controlled at all times (that is, to maintain a certain degree of tension), so that the breath can be exhaled in a controlled and uniform manner. As the breath is exhaled, the abdominal muscles, psoas and other related muscle groups gradually contract, and the diaphragm is also reset. Here is a special point to emphasize: when you just exhale, you must not immediately retract your abdomen (it should be slightly "topped" outwards). Immediately retracting the abdomen will cause the abdomen to be squeezed inward, forcing the originally fallen diaphragm to reset in advance, thereby squeezing the breath into the chest and increasing the burden on the chest. In this way, it is not only unfavorable to control the speed of exhalation, but also affects the health of the player for a long time. When about half of the breath is blown out, the abdominal part naturally retracts inward. This exhalation process is relatively correct. And don't wait until all the breath is used up before inhaling.
In short, the exhalation in the playing should always be delivered evenly under the push of a certain pressure. The breath should be steady, not strong or weak. To achieve this requirement, repeated practice is necessary. You can practice by playing long notes, or you can practice breathing on the back of your hand. Through practice, the learner will feel the speed, pressure, stability, etc. of the breath, thereby enhancing the ability to consciously control the breath. Explain two points: length, strength and other specific circumstances, flexible control of inspiratory volume.
There are "fast blowing" and "slow blowing" in the playing. The air pressure is high and the air speed is faster. A slow blow is a slow exhalation of air. Under normal circumstances, use the fast blowing method when playing the bass, and use the slow blowing method when playing the middle and high notes. Mastering and using the correct breathing method is very important for playing the cucurbit flute and other wind instruments, and must be highly valued by learners.
