The drum body is made of pig iron (also made of copper), the drum cavity is hollow, the upper mouth is larger, the lower bottom is smaller, and the shape is flowerpot-shaped. There is a ring ear on both sides of the drum body, which is convenient to be used as a handle when moving. The upper mouth of the drum is covered with cowhide, sheepskin, donkey skin or camel lambskin, and the drum skin is fastened with ropes around the middle waist of the drum body. 

Nagra usually forms a pair of two sizes, the diameter of the drum surface is 25 cm-27.5 cm for the larger, 18 cm-20.5 cm for the smaller, and the drum height is 20 cm-30 cm. Due to the different sizes of the drum body and drum surface, the pronunciation level is also different, and the two drums are mostly set into a fourth or fifth degree relationship. 

There is also a bass Nagra drum, also known as Dongba, a large iron drum three or four times larger than the small Nagra, with a drum surface diameter of 45 centimeters and a drum height of 40 centimeters, which can emit a thick and sturdy bass.

The single-sided drum made of cast iron is shaped like a bucket with a big upper and a smaller lower, and the color is brown. It usually has two drum sets. The big one beats the rhythm and is as loud as a war drum; Add a suona to form a three-person drum band. This "pocket band" is very sophisticated, one more burden, one less is inevitable, one more musical instrument is at risk of snake feet, and one less possession will be eclipsed. This is probably the most concise, harmonious and musically appealing drum band in the world. The timbre is high and low, bright and sinking, floating and falling, all between the drums and hammers; when it is soothing, it is like a cloud roaming, and when it is excited, it is like a thousand horses galloping, forming a seamless and wonderful music radiation.
