Jialing is a Tibetan double-reed air-sounding instrument. The Tibetan word "Jia" means the Han nationality, "Ling" is translated as the flute, which means the flute of the Han nationality, and it is also translated as Jialin, which is called the Tibetan suona in Chinese.
When the Jialing is played, the tube body is placed upright. Hold the Jialing with both hands, the right hand is on the top, the fifth, sixth and seventh holes are pressed by the ring finger, middle finger and index finger, the back hole is pressed by the thumb, the left hand is on the bottom, the second, third and fourth holes are pressed by the ring finger, middle finger and index finger, and the first hole is not used. , the second hole is also less used.
In Zhouqu County, Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Gansu Province, in addition to the first hole, the back hole is also sealed and not used. The oboe whistle with the head of the tube in the mouth is played by the cyclic ventilation method, which can make the music played continuously. Jialing's tone varies, usually between b-e1, range a1-b2.
Jialing's pronunciation is low, vigorous and unique, and the playing skills often use fast decorative sounds. Often used in unison, instrumental ensemble or for Tibetan opera, singing and dancing accompaniment.
