Guqin is really expensive nowadays, so we should pay attention to daily maintenance. In fact, a qualified guqin is generally very "strong" unless it is in an extremely harsh environment. However, this proper maintenance is still necessary.

Guqin maintenance method

summer maintenance
①Guqin doesn't like to be in the sun, it feels that its paint color is already very healthy. So, don't let your guqin be exposed to the sun for a long time. Long-term wind and sun exposure will accelerate the aging of the lacquer layer on the surface of the guqin, resulting in paint cracking, peeling, peeling and other phenomena.

②The structure of the guqin has already considered the change of temperature difference when making it, but the wood billet and the lacquer still do not like the severe temperature difference of the air conditioner. The cold air blown directly against the air conditioner should be avoided.

③ Guqin has certain requirements for humidity. In the hot summer, we are very happy to hide at home and incubate the air conditioner, but Guqin may not think so. A more appropriate way is to increase the air humidity.

winter maintenance
①Do not put it next to the heater. If the home is geothermal, the guqin and pestle cannot be placed on the geothermal.

②Do not put it by the window to let the sun shine. Someone's piano table is placed by the window. In the northern winter, a ray of sunlight shines directly on the guqin through the window. The whole scene is light and dark, antique and artistic. Beauty is beautiful, but the risks are too great. It is cold by the window, coupled with direct sunlight, the piano is easy to crack and deform.

③Try not to take the guqin outdoors in winter. If you really want to go outdoors, you must do a good job of keeping warm: put the guqin in the thick qin bag and the qin box, and don't let the cold wind blow outside. Do not take out the guitar immediately after going from outdoor to indoor, wait at least 2 hours before taking it out of the piano bag and case. The purpose of this is to prevent the body from cracking and deforming due to the rapid alternation of hot and cold.

④Some people suggest that you can use a humidifier indoors. This is a good idea, but you should be careful not to overuse it. If the room is too humid or too humid, fine lines may appear on the lacquer. This is because the humidity decreases rapidly after no water, and the difference between the front and rear is too large. Large causes the piano body to dry out too quickly.

⑤ To keep the piano surface clean. It is best to use a dry cotton rag to wipe away sweat and dust from the strings and surface before and after each performance.

⑥ The strings can be lubricated with "white vaseline" regularly. The method is to first wipe off the perspiration and dust on the strings and the piano surface with a dry cotton rag, then put some white vaseline in different positions on the strings, and then wipe the strings with a dry cotton rag.

⑦ About the cracking of the guqin. Some parts, such as between Yueshan and Chenglu, will crack sooner or later. this is normal phenomenon. The reason is that Yueshan and Chenglu are not one body at all, they are just next to each other and covered with a layer of paint. Yueshan has been subjected to string tension for a long time, and will naturally produce a "cracking" phenomenon with Chenglu. This kind of cracking, usually small, generally does not affect the playing.
