The 402-type dulcimer has 65 phonemes, and each phoneme has different types and different numbers of strings in groups. There are a total of 144 strings, including 63 bare wires, commonly known as steel wires, and 81 wound strings. Four to five strings are used for each group of notes in the treble region, three strings are used for each group of notes in the middle region, and two strings are used for each group of notes in the low-pitched region.
