I often hear people say "a guqin", and some people who have studied the qin for many years also call it that, and there are even some senior qin players who are famous in the guqin circle. Others are called "a guqin" or "a guqin", which is purely to regard the guqin as a piano.
I have also heard of something called "a guqin". It is a bit frivolous to use these titles on the ancient musical instrument with cultural heritage.
The title of "a bed of qin" comes from the instrument used to put the qin. Liu Xi's "Release of Names and Bed Tent" in the Han Dynasty said: "People sit and lie on the bed. The bed is installed, so it is self-loading." The characteristics, Mr. Yang Zhishui pointed out: "Anyone with a panel on the top and a foot support on the bottom can be called a bed, such as a tea bed, a food bed, and a meditation bed, whether it is used to store objects, sit on people, or sleep." The support and base of the utensils can also be called "beds".
For example, the instrument for playing the piano is called a piano bed, such as "Waterfall Splashing Qin Bed" in Zijuyi's "Hebei Linggong Xincheng Wuqiao Village"; the instrument for placing the brush is called a pen bed, such as "A Mountain Flower Falls on a Pen Bed" in Cen Shen's "Spring Events in the Mountain Room" Wait. Therefore, the ancients called the qin a bed, and the Ming Dynasty "Changwu Zhi" said: "The qin is an ancient music. Although it cannot be played, it must be hung on the wall."
Similarly, the quantifier "bed" is also described in ancient poetry.
In addition to "bed", many ancients used the quantifier "zhang" to describe the guqin.
Flowers ask for a few glasses of wine, and a piano under the moon. Hearing about fame and fortune, I cherish an inch of yin in front of me. ——Tang·Liu Yuxi, "Returning to Luoyang to live idle"
To a piano, a pot of wine, a stream of clouds. ——Song Su Shi "Xingxiangzi Shuhuai"
Baoyu said, "I don't believe it, I've never heard of you playing the qin. There are several in our study..." - "A Dream of Red Mansions" Chapter 86
It can be seen from the above that both "bed" and "zhang" can be used to describe the guqin. Note-Jun personally thinks that the word "bed" is more formal and solemn, but in modern society, this bed is not another bed. For people who don't know guqin, the word "bed" is a little bit inconsistent. The use of the word "Zhang" is more cordial and yet elegant.
