In dulcimer performance, whether the arrangement of the left and right hands is reasonable, convenient and scientific is related to the quality of performance and the efficiency of piano practice. For this issue, if the performance can be performed according to the needs of the music , The switching of the left and right hands, if arranged properly, can get twice the result with half the effort.

How to change the left and right hands of dulcimer

In the traditional yangqin bamboo method (that is, the hand-changing method of left and right hands), there are two kinds of bamboo methods: left bamboo method and right bamboo method.

The left bamboo method is that in the performance of the music, the accent of each beat must fall on the left bamboo, and the right bamboo is not. Then play alternately in this order. In the traditional bamboo method, two hands are not allowed to play crosswise, and one hand is not allowed to play twice in a row, both of which are prohibited in dulcimer performance. Therefore, if you start with the left bamboo method, you can only play with the left bamboo to the end, and if you start with the right bamboo method, you can only play with the right bamboo to the end. The above-mentioned traditional dulcimer and bamboo method, the author thinks that it is only suitable for playing traditional music with monophonic melody, but to play modern works, or foreign music, harmony, polyphony, various semitones, transposition, off-key and various special ones. For complex music such as rhythm patterns, the traditional dulcimer bamboo method is incompetent. Therefore, many prohibitions in the original traditional bamboo method must be broken, and the left and right hand changing methods must be redesigned.

The method of changing hands should not be based on the abstract left bamboo method or right bamboo method, but should first establish a principle of changing hands. In principle, the following five hand-changing methods can be used to solve various difficult problems in changing hands during performance:

  1. Left and right key alternating bamboo method: Generally, the left and right keys are used to strike the strings alternately, and the accent is used to right-click the strings.
  2. Left Bamboo Method: Those who often use the left key to play rebeats are often not used to using the Left Bamboo method. On the dulcimer with four or five rows of code bars, when a fast phrase from left to right descends, use the Left Bamboo Method. , the switching of both hands is convenient and smooth, and when playing with the right bamboo method, there will be a lot of crossover techniques, and these too many crossovers will easily lead to the phenomenon of typing or inaccurate sound.
  3. Combo, also known as double-jump or combined hand: in the process of alternating left and right bamboo play, if you need to change from the original right bamboo method to the left bamboo method, or from left to right, you need to make a one-handed combo. Change the bamboo method, and the combo is divided into two types: "connect left" and "connect right". When using the combo method, it should be noted that the two tones that need to be combo are limited to small jumps in the second and third intervals, and large jumps above the sixth interval are too late, so they should be avoided. Sometimes due to the special circumstances in the music, it is necessary to continuously hit the left and right hands. Under normal circumstances, it is mostly one-handed two-tone combo. In special circumstances, the performer needs to further practice the special skills of three-tone combo. The essentials of one-handed combo, the two tones of the combo must be played with light and accent respectively, that is, according to the strength law of right, left, right, left, heavy, light, heavy and light when playing alternately with both hands, the combo When the first note is played heavily, the second note is played lightly. Pressing the strong, weak and weak rhythm when you triple strike with one hand, you can play the effect alternately.
  4. Crossover method: When you encounter some sound connections in the performance, you need to use the crossover method when you must cross the code.
  5. Homophonic change of hands: After two hands play chords in a row, and then jump across the yard, it is necessary to pass a "homonymous change of hands" method to make the switching of the two hands smooth and reasonable.
