Bamboo shoots are the musical instruments of the Jingpo people. In Jingpo language, "Bi" is a general term for a wind instrument, and "bamboo" is a hat, which means a wind instrument wearing a bamboo hat. Also known as bi duo, gong lao bi duo.
When playing the bamboo shoots, the tube body is placed upright, the right hand is at the bottom, the ring finger and index finger are pressed into the first and second holes respectively, the left hand is on the top, the ring finger and index finger are respectively pressed into the third and fourth holes, and the thumb is pressed into the back hole. The mouth contains a mouthpiece, and the airflow rushes below the sound hole from the inclined surface of the tube wall, so that the air column in the tube vibrates to produce sound. The barrel tone is g or a, the phonemes are arranged on a pentatonic scale, the range is g-a2, and the commonly used range is one and a half octaves.
The bamboo shoots are the favorite wind instruments of Jingpo men. They are often used in solo entertainment or in love life. The wind is not restricted by time and place.
