Kuoshinai is a double-reed gas-sounding instrument of Uyghur and Uzbek nationalities, also known as double-pipe flute.
When playing the Kuo Shi Nai Yi, the tube body is placed upright, the two hands hold the Kuo Shi Nai Yi, the little finger, ring finger, middle finger, and index finger of the right hand press the first, second, third, and fourth holes of the double tube horizontally, and the little finger, ring finger, middle finger, and index finger of the left hand press the double tube horizontally. The five-, six-, seven-, and eight-hole pipes can be played with a double-pipe reed whistle, which can play the same degree of double tones.
Kuo Shi Nai is full of artistic charm because of its high volume, rich timbre and artistic charm. Often used in Uyghur and Uzbek folk bands, it is an indispensable characteristic wind instrument for solo, ensemble or accompaniment.
