Leyou is a folk traditional musical instrument created by the Buyi people. Leyou was originally called "Leyou", but because this musical instrument is played like a suona, and cicadas are used as worm whistles to make the cicadas sing leisurely, everyone calls it "Leyou". Later, it gradually became a medium for the later generations of the Bouyei people to talk about love, so it is also called "Leyou" or "Leyou" (Leyou: Buyi language, that is, to invite friends).
The Leyou pipe is made of wood, with a total length of about 45 cm. There are five or six sound holes on the front. The top of the pipe is inserted with a thin bamboo tube. Cut the resonator made of bamboo pipe. The insect whistle is made of an insect cocoon on the locust tree, yellow fruit tree or olive tree. Cut off the two ends, take out the insect pupae, soak it in tung oil, take it out to dry after shrinking, and use it after a little pruning. It is wrapped with silk. The quality of the bound cocoons is comparable, with the advantages of durability, not easy to break and deform, and soft pronunciation. In some places, when making Leyou, a copper hoop made of scrap bullet casings is also put on the end of the tube to prevent the tube from cracking.
