Leyou is a folk traditional musical instrument created by the Buyi people. Leyou was originally called "Leyou", but because this musical instrument is played like a suona, and cicadas are used as worm whistles to make the cicadas sing leisurely, everyone calls it "Leyou". Later, it gradually became a medium for the later generations of the Bouyei people to talk about love, so it is also called "Leyou" or "Leyou" (Leyou: Buyi language, that is, to invite friends).
When playing Leyou, place the pipe upright, hold the pipe with both hands, press two holes with the index finger and ring finger of the left hand, and press the three holes with the index finger, middle finger and ring finger of the right hand, with a reed whistle in the mouth, and play with the cyclic ventilation method. Blow, range a-a2, there are two octaves.
Leyou's playing mainly adopts the natural and cyclic aspirating method. If the cyclic breathing method is used, a tune can be played in one breath, and it can be done in one go, and the skill requirements are extremely high. Leyou's fingering changes quickly and is very skillful: when playing, the fingers constantly vibrate and tap the sound hole to make a vibrato; a brief appearance from the high or low sound immediately returns to the original sound, making a strange sound; hold down all the six holes, that is, Make a buzzing sound.
In addition, the application of fingering skills can also produce calendar and bay sounds. In addition, the sound of the double-reed resonance of the insect whistle makes the Leyou sound more unique. The most commonly used keys of C and F are often one tone through. Leyou has a multi-tone with a wide range and rich and rich timbre; it is close to a suona but different from a suona, and it is close to a clarinet but different from a clarinet. The tune is melodious and romantic.
