The best temperature for the guzheng is 20℃, and the best humidity is 50%. Under normal circumstances, using the guzheng in a space where the temperature is kept at 16-28°C and the humidity is between 50 and 70% is beneficial to the vibration and pronunciation of the instrument.
In humid weather, be sure to store the guzheng in a dry and ventilated place. When not in use, you can put moisture-absorbing items such as desiccant in the piano bag before packing and storing the guzheng.
In an excessively dry weather environment, some cracks will appear on the string holes and even the bottom plate of the guzheng. At this time, it must be protected as soon as possible. You can use some musical instrument moisturizing cream to evenly spread around the cracks to prevent the cracks from expanding.
Be sure not to expose the guzheng to the sun for a long time, otherwise it will cause great damage to the panel.
Do not let the panel get wet, and be sure to take protective measures when handling it in rainy days.
Make sure that your fingers are dry before touching the strings. Do not touch the strings with wet fingers, which will easily cause the string wires to rust.
Do not wipe the panel and bottom plate with a wet rag or paper towel. As the most important part of pronunciation, water will seriously affect the wood, resulting in poor sound.
Regularly clean the dust on the surface of the piano, and use a small amount of household cleaner to increase the brightness of the smooth parts of the head and tail.
A piece of cloth can be used to cover the strings during normal storage. If it is transported for a long time or checked in, the saddle must be removed to avoid damage.
After the guzheng is used, wipe the perspiration on the strings with a dry soft cloth to prevent the strings from rusting. When not in use, it is best to cover it with a zither cover to reduce the erosion of the zither by dust, light or humid air.
The guzheng should be handled gently when using it to avoid collision or violent vibration.
