Meidu is a single-reed gas-sounding instrument of Kucong people, popular in Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan Province. It is an inseparable folk musical instrument for Kucong young people in their social and love life, and old people often play it for their own amusement.
When playing Meidu, the tube body is placed upright, the lower half of the tube body is held in both hands, and the index finger, middle finger, and ring finger of both hands press the upper and lower three holes respectively. The mouth contains the first reed, and it is played by the cyclic ventilation method.
