There is a legend of Dabu on the banks of the Yarkand River in southern Xinjiang: long ago, there were dense jungles in the north and south of the Tianshan Mountains, with a mild climate and rich products. People live in harmony and live and work in peace and contentment.
One year, a large python suddenly appeared, very vicious, it devoured the nearby birds, beasts and livestock. People are worried, not going out during the day and not lighting the lights at night. Dabu, a young hunter, found out about this and decided to kill the people. Carrying dry food, bows and arrows, and a waist knife, he lurked in the forest. Three days and three nights passed. Dabu did not close his eyes, but there was no trace of the python.
On the fourth day, he was very tired. In order not to fall asleep, he cut off a pine branch and bent it in a circle, covered it with sheepskin, and made a single-sided leather drum. Love the grassland? Which hunter doesn't love the green mountains? The herdsmen are worried about the disaster day and night because the pythons invade Kunlun. I slammed the sheepskin drum to draw the python out of the hole, and vowed to eradicate the savage demon. Pi makes a tambourine for Qianjia to beat...." Before Dabu's song was finished, he looked up and saw a giant python rushing towards him from a tree.

Dabu jumped up and slashed with his knife. Unexpectedly, he fell on a tree. He turned around and drew an arrow, hitting the python in the eye. The python struggled with the injury and slammed Dabu with its tail. The hunter was knocked to the ground and hit the sheepskin drum, only to hear a "dong" sound. The python was frightened and retreated. Feifei raised his knife and slashed at the giant python, which was cut into two pieces by the waist and died. The evil pythons have been eliminated, and people have resumed their peaceful life. In order to commend Dabu's achievements in eradicating harm for the people, the Uyghur people skinned the pythons and made drums, and named it "Dabu".
