Di Lao Nuo is a side edge air-sounding instrument of Yi people, and it is called Tudongxiao by Han people. The whole body is kneaded and roasted with clay and mud, and its shape is pear-shaped or gourd-shaped, similar to the ancient xun in the Han area, and its structure and pronunciation are the same as those of xun.
Di Lao Nuo Tong is about 8 cm high, about 6 cm in diameter at the largest part of the pear shape, hollow inside, about 0.3 cm thick, and the protruding part at the upper end is a blow hole, with an outer diameter of 1.3 cm and an inner diameter of 0.7 cm. There are three sound-pressing holes, one on the left and right at the bottom of the front, and one on the back.
Di Lao Nuo has a low pronunciation and a beautiful and soft tone. The roasted pottery Di Lao Nuo has a louder volume and brighter tone than the clay one, and can be used for solo performance.
