Afterwards, Guangxi Zhuang Opera Troupe and Beijing National Musical Instrument Factory jointly explored and tried the bones of Inner Mongolian horses and cattle to make sticky qin barrels to make the barrel appropriately enlarged, overcoming the limitation of using natural leg bones and the barrel being too small. The piano barrel made of ocean horse leg bones has the best pronunciation, the timbre is round and soft, and the volume can be expanded; later, after the long-term artistic practice of musicians such as Li Guangcai of Guangxi Arts Institute and Chen Lixin of Baise Song and Dance Troupe, the piano rod was lengthened and thickened. , changed to mahogany handle spiral pegs, used steel strings, erhu bows, increased hardwood support, and changed the knees to hold the piano barrel on the left leg when playing, so that the playing skills can be brought into play.

In the 1960s, the reformed horse bone hu has developed into a relatively complete high-pitched stringed instrument, which maintains strong national characteristics and is widely used in solo, ensemble, instrumental ensemble or concerto with a band and other instrumental performance forms. In the North Road Zhuang Opera Band, the horse bone hu is the main instrument, and the alto horse bone hu with a larger piano is specially designed and produced for it. They can well set off the singing and make Zhuang opera music. More beautiful and melodious.

In the early 1990s, Peng Minxiong, an instrumental performer from the Guangxi Song and Dance Troupe, and Man Ruixing, a well-known string producer from the Beijing National Musical Instrument Factory, cooperated to develop the third-generation treble and alto Magu Hu. Their qin barrels are made of split horse bones and mahogany, and the inner cavity of the barrel has some ingenious treatments to make the sound soft and round, and the treble in the lower position is better than that of the erhu, making it ideal As a solo instrument, he hopes to have a place in the soprano string group of the national orchestra. This achievement won the third prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award of the Ministry of Culture in 1993.
