The pen pipe is a folk wind instrument of the Buyi nationality in Libo County, Guizhou Province. It is mainly popular in a few places such as Chengguan Town and Dongguo in Libo County. Since there is no written record of the era of the pen tube, there is no history to test it. According to some local elders in their 60s and 70s, when they were children, during the first month of each year, craftsmen from nearby villages often made pen tubes for sale, and children all over the city bought them to play play. After dusk, the sound of the pen tube is everywhere, and it is very lively. It is obvious that the pen tube was popular as a toy musical instrument at that time.
According to the "Libo County Chronicle", there is a poem written by Li Guocai, a tribute to Li Guocai, Daoguang Yiwei of the Qing Dynasty (AD 1823). Sound." This "night whistle" is an ancient name for the pen pipe that is good at night blowing, and "ballad" generally refers to folk songs, which means that the pen pipe plays the tune of folk songs. This is quite consistent with what some old people say now that every night during the first month, children blowing pen tubes all over the city. This shows that Libo County had a toy musical instrument called "Night Whistle" played by children during the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty.
Then, the pen tube has been widely circulated in Libo County during the Daoguang period more than 160 years ago, indicating that this kind of musical instrument has been produced for a long time before Daoguang Yiwei.
