It is rumored that the Jingpo people hold the "Munao Zongge" event every year. At that time, men, women and children from dozens of li Jingpo cottages all dressed in festive costumes gather to sing and dance together.

At first, the "Munao Zongge" was only accompanied by Zengjiang (a big long drum made of tree trunks), which was very monotonous. An old Jingpo old man saw chi in the Dai village, so he changed several sides of the buffalo and brought it back to Jingpo Mountain. When dancing "Munao Zongge", he used chi to accompany Zeng Jiang. People were in high spirits and danced enthusiastically. Also all night long. Since then, zha has become an inseparable musical instrument for Jingpo people.

The legend of the gong goes back a long time. In Mengla Bazi, Jinping, Yunnan, there lived a poor family of Dai people. One evening, a beautiful peacock suddenly flew over, with a golden round pot hanging from its wings. It tapped the round pot on the barren land, and then made a sound of "Herbium-mercury", and saw the grass growing, All things revive, and birds sing happily.

The legend of the gong

Nan'e decided that the round pot must be a treasure, and the next day she knelt down and asked Peacock to leave the round pot, create a home, and benefit the people. The peacock agreed to Nan'e's request and said to her: "This round basin is called mang, from the Peacock country. Just knock it, you can get whatever you want." The peacock rang the mang and danced. Bamboo buildings are built on the side, cattle and horses are tied downstairs, and betel nut grows on the barren hills. Afterwards, the peacock gave Nan'e the tungsten and flew away. Since then, Mengla Dam has become beautiful and rich, and the Dai people have moved here to live and work in peace and contentment. It was the peacock and the chi that brought happiness and joy to the Dai family. To this day, on the festive days of the New Year, the Dai family can't help but bang the chi and dance the joyful peacock dance.
