The monkey drum was passed down in the Xiangxi era. It is said that there is an ancient temple in Miaoshan, and a group of monkeys entered the temple to steal the fruit for offering. After a while, an alert monkey found that the drum was only beeping, not chasing after him, so the group of monkeys gathered around again, beating wildly, very happy. 

The sound of the drums alerted a young hunting boy, who quietly hid behind the temple gate and was fascinated by it, remembering this wonderful scene. When he returned to the village, he told the people of the same village what he had seen. The boys were elated and dancing, borrowing a drum and learning to play monkeys. Over time, the "monkey drum" was gradually formed.
