The Naxi Huqin has a soft and rich tone. Commonly used performance techniques are hit, portamento, and rubbing. It can be used for solo or ensemble. It is an important tenor stringed instrument of the Naxi people. It is mainly used to play the traditional Naxi "white sand music" and "Naxi ancient music (dongjing music)".
