Dongdongku is a Tujia single-reed air-sounding instrument. In Tujia language, it is called Zaogude, also known as Dadaili. It is popular in Longshan, Sangzhi, Baojing, Yongshun, Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hunan Province, and Laifeng and Hefeng, Hubei Province, Hubei Province.

Dongdongku has a long history. According to legend, when Qin Shihuang built the Great Wall, he captured the Tujia youth Ba Nie. Not long after he left home, his wife Dongdong gave birth, and her mother-in-law abused her again. Dongdong looked forward to Bagnee's early return day and night, and went up the mountain every day to look around, but he couldn't see Bagnei. It was blown until she died of grief, but Bagne was not seen to return. Later generations miss Dongdong, and they also learned to play the bamboo flute in her tune, and called the flute made by Dongdong Dongdongku.

Although the story is legendary, it shows that the dong dong ki was a musical instrument created by Tujia women and is still loved by women and children of Tujia.
