The production process of the Daguang string is not complicated, and many professional luthiers, folk artists and amateurs can make it.
The qin barrel of Daguangxian is also called "Xiansheng" in some places in southern Fujian. The existing literature records that the materials used to make the Daguangxian qin tube include agave root, sisal or palm rhizome, and sycamore wood.
Since it uses a natural material - the shell formed naturally after the agave rhizome is air-dried (the thickness is generally only about 0.3 to 0.5 cm), it can only be used for measuring materials, but cannot be produced according to fixed specifications. The same problem exists when using palm rhizomes as materials: although the rhizomes of palm trees are solid, only the part close to the outer shell is available, so its specifications are difficult to be consistent. Only by using larger materials such as sycamore wood or river wood can it be processed at will according to people's subjective wishes, so that the dimensions and specifications are completely unified.
Among the various materials used to make Daguangxian qin barrels, "Nato" (ie, sesame) is the best, followed by sisal, palm tree rhizomes, and sycamore wood. Daguangxian, which uses "Nato" as the resonance box, has a mellow sound quality, clean sound and unique charm, which cannot be achieved by other materials.
