There are many reasons for the low sound of the erhu. Some of the problems appear on the strings, some on the skin, and some on the filter pad. Sometimes, the sound of the erhu is dull and low due to the influence of the weather. The specific reasons and treatment methods are as follows:
[1] Everyone knows that the sound of the erhu is produced by the friction between the strings and the bow hair. The first consideration of the small sound of the erhu is that the amplitude of the strings is not enough to allow the strings to produce standard amplitudes. The bow hair of the bow does not produce enough friction on the strings. In fact, the strings are not very smooth, the surface is like threads, the strings are used for too long, and the surface is worn too smooth, thereby reducing friction. Another bow hair actually has small thorns arranged neatly, which cannot be seen with the naked eye unless observed with a microscope. If the bow hair is used for too long, the small spines on its surface also receive wear and tear, which also reduces friction. Without rosin, the bow hair would have no friction, and the strings would have no vibration. Therefore, the strings and bow hairs must be intact.
[2] The string length of the erhu determines the amplitude of the strings. If the daughter is moved to the middle or lower part of the piano bar, the strings will become shorter and the amplitude will naturally become smaller. Another daughter tied with cotton thread has too many turns, exceeding 1 cm, which affects the amplitude of the strings. The more resonant waves produced by the strings, the better the timbre. This is the principle of bright, crystal clear and transparent overtones. Too much cotton thread bundled with gold thread is like keeping fingers on the strings, hindering the resonant waves of the strings and making the sound dull. It is important to know that when the string is pulled, high-frequency resonance occurs over the entire length of the string, and overtones can be produced. Therefore, the number of gold turns is too large, which hinders the resonance generated by the full length of the strings.
[3] The reason why the erhu does not sound also depends on the resonance of the strings and the skin through the resonance of the bridge and the piano barrel. It may be that the bridge is too high, the chassis of the bridge is too large, and the sound filter pad may be used. In order to compare the solid, sturdy and thick ones, the resonance amplitude between the strings, the bridge and the piano skin is prevented, and the resonance between the piano skin and the piano barrel is naturally reduced. The piano skin is the most important source of sound.
[4] After inferring so many reasons, how can we increase the sound of the erhu? It can be ruled out bit by bit according to the method.
(1) First, apply foot rosin to the bow hair.
(2) It is best to replace rusted and aged strings.
(3) Move the daughter up to about 40 cm away from the piano yard, the number of turns of the daughter is about 1 cm, the distance between the strings and the piano bar at the daughter should not be greater than 2 cm, and the daughter wire should be changed to a special wire with a slightly harder texture. .
(4) The piano code should be made of solid wood, and the chassis should not be too large.
(5) The filter pad is very particular. Improper filter pads can prevent the amplitude of the strings to the piano skin, and the sound volume will be reduced. Although the area of the sponge is reduced, the height of the sponge should be increased to filter out the large and irregular amplitude waves, so as to ensure the small volume of the bridge and the filter pad, and to make the connection between the strings and the yards and the sponge. The best resonance occurs between the piano skin and the best resonance combination for the piano skin to produce resonance with the piano barrel.
According to the debugging of the above methods, if it is not ideal, it is a matter of the piano skin. If the piano skin is too thick, the pronunciation will be dull and the sound will be low. If that's the case, then the only thing you can do is change the skin. Usually the erhu has a wolf sound, you can change the thickness of the filter pad and place it close to the piano code. For the thin-skinned and tightly covered Erhu, the sound is bright and sandy, and the area of the sound filter pad can be appropriately increased to filter out the noise. There are also thin and translucent piano skins. When it rains, the skin is soft and the volume is low. The sound filter pad should not be too large or too high.
