Most of the structure of banhu is the same as that of erhu, the main difference lies in the qin barrel and jin. Banhu's speakers are made of coconut shell or wood, and the panel is made of thin tungsten wood. The piano rod is made of hard ebony or mahogany, with two strings and a ponytail bamboo bow. The tone is bright and high-pitched, suitable for expressing warm and unrestrained tunes.

piano
Also known as the scoop, it is the sound box of Banhu. It is cylindrical and made of hard coconut shells. It is also made of wood, copper or bamboo. After the 1970s, it was molded with low-foaming (ABS) materials. The shape of one end of the qin barrel is large and the other is small, which can concentrate the sound resonance and create the characteristics of the banhu. Big scoops have a low voice, but small scoops are screeching. The front mouth of the qin barrel is not covered with a film, but is glued with a tungsten board. It is the key to the sound quality of banhu, and it is better to use sycamore wood with soft wood, straight texture, uniform density, no marks and water stains. Some of the back of the barrel are open, and some have five sound holes, which are in the shape of money eyes.

piano bar
It is made of mahogany, rosewood or rosewood, preferably precious ebony. The piano bar should not be too long, it will hinder the beautiful pronunciation, and widen the finger position, which is inconvenient to move the fingers and master the pitch.

peg
Most of them are made of piano rod wood or boxwood, and the surface has a debate pattern, which is installed on the same side of the piano rod. At present, most banhus have used wooden handle gears and copper shafts, and the tuning is accurate and does not return.

fiddlestick
It is made of reed or other bamboo with uniform thickness and elasticity. It is longer and thicker than the erhu bow. The ponytail on the top is preferably a white ponytail. The bow should not be too long or too short, too long and bulky, and too short should not be used to play long notes.

Thousands of pounds
The Qianjin of Banhu, also known as the waist horse, is named after the string in the middle of the piano bar. It is a flat wood piece made of horn or mahogany.

bridge
It is made of bamboo or wood, and it should be placed above the center of the panel, 1/3 of the panel.

strings
The pronunciation with silk or steel strings is cleaner and brighter than silk strings, with clear overtones.
