Bo Xiaohu, the Bouyei people blow their breath and sing their musical instruments. In the Bouyei language, "wave" means blowing, and "xiaohu" means two pipes, which means two blowing pipes. Therefore, it is also called double flute or double flute.

Bo Xiaohu is two flutes with the same shape, pitch and timbre. The tube body is made of bamboo, which is made of locally grown yellow withered bamboo with thin tube and long section.

The length of the tube is generally 40 cm to 50 cm, the outer diameter of the upper nozzle is 2.3 cm, the inner diameter is 1.6 cm, and the outer diameter of the lower nozzle is 1.8 cm and the inner diameter is 1.3 cm. Make a protruding mouthpiece with a length of 1 cm and a width of 1.2 cm on one side of the upper mouth, break the wall of the mouthpiece into two pieces, the upper and lower pieces, pad with thin bamboo strips on both sides, and tie a string outside to form a 4 cm long, Air intake ducts with a width of 0.6 cm and a height of 0.2 cm. A rectangular sounding hole with a length of 2 cm and a width of 0.5 cm is opened at the lower end of the airway, and a thin bamboo piece is placed at the bottom of the hole as an air valve, and the air valve can be moved to adjust the tone and volume. There are three (or two in the front and one in the back) oval-shaped sound holes in the lower part of the front of the tube body. The middle of the two pipes is connected by a small rope.
