Double-pipe bamboo flute, a single-reed gas-sounding instrument of the Dong nationality. In the Dong language, it is called Baben or Ji Bamei. Diaben means a flute made of bamboo leaves. Jibamei means a flute made of leaves. It is popular in Congjiang County, Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province, Sanjiang Dong Autonomous County and Rongshui Miao Autonomous County in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
The double-pipe bamboo flute is made of two single-pipe bamboo flutes tied side by side. The tube body is made of bamboo, and it is mostly made of pen tube bamboo or water bamboo with long tube details. The length of the tube is 21 cm to 26 cm, and the inner diameter of the tail end is 0.8 cm. Folks do not stick to specifications, and they are mostly made at will, so the lengths of the two tubes are slightly different. Over time, one flute body is slightly longer, and the other flute body is slightly shorter.
The groove of the tube head and the placement of the bamboo leaf reeds of the double-pipe bamboo flute are the same as those of the single-pipe bamboo flute. There are also four sound-pressing holes in the tube body. The distance between the first and fourth holes is the same, and the distance between the end of the tube and the first hole is different. The upper and lower ends of the tube are tied firmly with thin wires. The tube body is made of bamboo, and most of them are made of non-water-saving bamboo tubes or pen tubes with the thickness of chopsticks. Generally, the length of the tube is 20 cm to 26 cm, and the inner diameter of the tail end is 0.8 cm. The thick end of the bamboo tube is used as the tube head. It is slanted into a slope shape at centimeters, and a slit is split on the tube wall below the groove, the slit is 0.5 cm to 0.8 cm long, and a small bamboo leaf is sandwiched in the gap as a reed. The tube body has four circular sound holes, which are 7.5 cm, 11.5 cm, 15.1 cm and 17.5 cm from the tube head respectively.
