Bixiang, a single-reed gas-sounding instrument of the Blang ethnic group. Legend has it that the Bi of the Dai nationality was introduced to the Bulang people, and the Bulang people called the Dai people the xiang. Therefore, the Bixiang means the 筚 of the Dai people.
The shape of the Bi is slightly smaller than that of the common Bi of the Dai people.
The upper end is closed with a bamboo joint, the middle bamboo joint is transparent, and the lower end is open. On the tube wall 0.7 cm from the right side of the bamboo joint at the head end, there is a rectangular through hole, which is not in a straight line with the sound hole. The through hole is embedded with a copper reed, the length of the reed is 1.6 cm and the width of cm, the reed tongue is sharp triangle, the reed tongue is facing down. The body of the tube has seven (six in the front and one in the back) circular sound holes with different hole spacings. The back hole is 10.3 cm away from the head of the tube, the sixth hole is 1.3 cm away from the back hole, the fifth hole is 6 cm away from the sixth hole, the third, fourth and fifth holes are all 2 cm away, the second hole is 1.5 cm away from the third hole, and the third, fourth and fifth holes are 2 cm away from each other. The spacing between the first and second holes is 2 cm. The diameters of the holes are also different, the back hole is 0.4 cm, the sixth hole is 0.2 cm, the fourth and fifth holes are 0.3 cm, and the lower three holes are all 0.25 cm.
