The mang tube is a single-reed air-sounding instrument of the Miao, Dong, Shui, Yao and other ethnic groups, also known as the earth tube, the mang tube, and the reed tube.

The reed pipe is mostly made of a thin bamboo pipe, the middle bamboo joint is transparent, the upper pipe mouth is used as the mouthpiece, the lower end is closed, a rectangular hole is opened at the bottom end, and a copper reed is inlaid, and there is no sound hole. , which produces a single tone. Reed pipes can also be used as reed pipes.

The resonance tube is made of thick bamboo tube, the upper end of the tube is cut into a 45° slope shape, the middle bamboo joint is opened, and the bottom of the tube has two shapes: open tube and closed tube: the common one is closed at the bottom end, which is a closed tube shape, and the other is a closed tube shape. The open tube shape is above the bamboo joint at the bottom end, and a semicircular or triangular through hole is dug on one side of the tube body. Put the reed pipe into the bottom of the resonator, blow the mouth on the top of the reed pipe, the air vibrates the reed to make sound, and the volume is enlarged through the resonator, so as to emit a powerful and deep sound. Open-tube resonators sound louder. Occasionally, two reed pipes (the main and dominant tones of the music mode) are also placed in the resonance tube, which can produce two different tones.
