The structure of the Yueqin is similar to that of the Ruan, the difference is that there are sound beams and columns in the body, and the neck is short. The Yueqin is composed of head, neck, body, pegs, strings and strings.

The headstock and neck are made from a single piece of rosewood or other hardwood. The decoration on the top of the headstock is made of wood alone to form a faucet or other pattern, and then glue it on. The upper part of the neck is provided with a string groove, and the side of the groove is provided with a circular hole for installing the peg. The lower end of the neck has a square wooden rod mounted on the body.

The body of the violin is a flat-shaped sound box, which is glued to the face, back and frame. The frame board is glued to form a round frame with 6 pieces of wood with the same specifications, and there are holes in the upper and lower sides for the square wood of the neck. Its two sides are adhered to the surface and the back plate. The top and back panels are the sounding boards for Yueqin, which are made of paulownia wood with straight and even texture, no scar knots and consistent wood color. Two sound beams are placed horizontally in the middle of the face and back plate, and there are two sound columns in the middle.

The pegs are made of boxwood, with oblique petal patterns engraved on the surface, and ivory or bone decorations are embedded at the twisted end.

Strings are silk, nylon, or nylon-wound steel strings. Steel nylon strings work best.

The tie string is made of mahogany or bamboo and is glued to the middle of the lower part of the panel.

The scale of the high-quality Yueqin is accurate, the pitch deviation does not exceed plus or minus 15 cents, the timbre is crisp and soft, and the sound is wide and bright; the roundness of the body is accurate, the width of the frame plate is the same, the surface and back are flat and clean; the headstock is carefully carved; the fret interval is accurate , neatly arranged; the neck and the panel are on the same plane, and there is no forward or backward phenomenon; the pegs and shaft holes are closely matched, and the copper shaft of the gear is sensitive. The glued parts are firmly glued, and the paint is uniform and bright.

To play Yueqin, the left hand holds the piano and presses the strings, and the right hand uses the plectrum to play. Its skills have developed to more than 30 kinds of skills such as playing, picking, picking, rolling, sweeping, pressing, trembling, sliding, chant, etc. Not only can it be used for accompaniment, but it is also an excellent solo instrument.
