The three-string Duolang Aijie was remade in the 1920s by adding strings on the basis of the two-string Aijie by an artist of the Uyghur folk musical instrument in southern Xinjiang. Zhang has three main strings, using horsetail strings, casing strings or steel strings, and also has 10 steel wire resonance strings, which are now widely popular in Xinjiang.
The Doran Aijk consists of a sound box, a headstock, a stem, a peg, a bridge, strings and a bow.
