Guqin is the only musical instrument known so far that can change the length by twisting the velvet button to pull the strings, so as to change the pitch of the strings and achieve the purpose of tuning.
This method is primitive and effective, and fully reflects the rich practical experience and wisdom of our ancestors.
Generally speaking, after a guqin is well-stringed. When the strings reach the normal use pitch (the ancients did not have the concept of standard pitch, the pitch that suits you and the tightness of the strings is the appropriate pitch, the so-called normal pitch).
If the teeny head is too far forward, or even sticks out of the mountain, the vibration of the strings will be greatly attenuated when transmitted to the body, the sound will be hoarse and the volume will be reduced.
When the teenage head is too far back or even flips over to the back of Yueshan, on the one hand, the strings are easily broken by the edges and corners of Yueshan.
The ancients mainly used silk strings, and the ancient silk velvet buttons were also easily damaged, so most qin players would simply deal with the problems encountered by the guqin.
When the ancients learned the piano, the master would first teach the students how to twist the velvet buttons, wear the strings, play the teenage, and tie the strings, and then learn how to do the manoeuvres.
Today, one service and mutual assistance is easier, and the second one is steel strings and nylon velvet buckles that are indeed very stable. It seems that many teachers in piano studios can’t do these things (the degradation of personal skills is replaced by social cooperation, the so-called compensation for weakness) .
So here I mainly talk about how to deal with the small problems of Qin Zhen, and do some small popularization work.
1. One case is to move the sound to a low key, but not move it to a high key. In this case, the velvet button has reached the limit of tightening and needs to be rewound.
Pay attention to observe whether the length of the velvet button needs to be adjusted when rewinding the string. Generally speaking, the length of the velvet button when it is completely relaxed should be just at the edge of the front end of Yueshan (the direction of the left hand of the player).
If the velvet button is placed too long, when the teen returns to the center of Yueshan, the velvet button is already in a very tight state, it is difficult to tighten and easy to loosen.
2. If it is not easy to twist in both directions, you can try this: poke the end of the piano on the ground to stand up. Then use a toothpick to dip one end of vegetable oil (rapeseed oil, soybean oil, etc.) a little, and put a little oil on the seam between the zither and the pond (due to the effect of siphon and gravity, the oil will penetrate by itself). Through the lubrication of vegetable oil, the situation that the piano is too difficult to twist will be significantly relieved.
1. The phenomenon and principle are the same as the first case above, which is the slippage caused by the velvet button itself reaching the adjustment limit. This method of eradication still requires rewinding and checking whether the length of the velvet button is too long when it is fully relaxed.
2. The second situation is that the friction between the qin and the pond is too small, and the friction surface is too smooth.
In this case, you can get some chalk powder or rosin powder and sprinkle it on the friction surface of the Zhenchi and the Qinzhen. If it is a wooden Qinzhen, you can slightly break the Qinzhen to make a gap between it and the Zhenchi. Sprinkle a little Rosin powder or chalk powder.
If it is a jade piano, be careful, the edges are easy to break, and it is best to loosen the strings.
Another method is more troublesome. After loosening the strings, use a knife to carve some sub-bus lines at the friction between the pond and the zither, similar to the treatment on the surface of the tire, to increase the friction.
