The famous Chaozhou gong and drum song "Fishing with a Net", which once won the Gold Medal of the World Youth Festival, is based on the story of the opera "Second Plum Festival". Chen Chunsheng and Mei Liangyu escorted Chen Xingyuan and Fan, but were killed by treacherous officials on the way. After Mei and Chen were dispersed, Chen Chunsheng committed suicide by throwing himself into the river. Coincidentally, the fisherman's mother and daughter fished in the river, saving Chunsheng. In the end, Chunsheng and the fisherman's daughter happily married each other. After multiple arrangements and refinements by musicians, this grand gong and drum music is quite different from the original plot of the opera. Perhaps, it is a song that praises the happy fishing and happy life of the Chaoshan people.
A series of gripping big gongs and drums spread out over the surging river, and a few fresh and crisp small gongs and drums launched a beautiful view of the river. The bright suona made people focus their attention on one point. It turned out that this girl and that young man were skillfully rowing the fishing boat, leisurely coming, looking for the best fishing location. In the vivid and lively melody, one sees the superb skill of casting a net. A soft fishing net flies out and instantly becomes a big circle. With a "poop" sound, it falls into the water, catching the lively fish and also capturing the joy of people's harvest.
