03 Elanur Khan
This is the most popular folk song in Turpan so far. It tells a sad story about a hundred years ago. A girl named Ayla Nur Khan was the Turpan Lukqin king Sulitan Mamuti caught into the palace when the concubine. Because of her love for the young Gili, Elanur Khan refused. On the night of the wedding, Elanur Khan schemed to murder King Rukqin, jumping from a high palace window in desperation. Her lover Gilili, in grief, wrote this long poem of missing her: "Your father was like the sun, your mother like the moon, gave birth to you like a red flower, and made me, a lonely slave, love Elanur Khan."
