The father who made my cradle out of that solid mountaintop,
A mother who gave me warmth and care in the cold of winter,
Ajida, Ajida,
Don't cry, Pojurai,
Mom's still here.
Took the bottom of the hill and stuck it in her pigtail,
Put down your needlework and play with him to his heart's content,
Ajida, Ajida,
Don't cry, Pojurai,
Mom's still here.
A three-horse carriage always sinks when it reaches the beach,
Three year old Pojolai was always lonely away from her mother,
Ajida, Ajida,
Don't cry, Pojurai,
Mom's still here.
This Matouqin solo piece uses the melody of a Horqin narrative folk song. The original song, which was created in the 1930s, tells the story of a 15-year-old girl who lost her parents and lullabies her one-year-old brother Borule to sleep, and is widely known as a lullaby due to the soothing rhythm of the tune itself. The Matou qin gently sings a soft and sad melody, reminiscent of the quiet moonlight, looking after her young brother alone, the girl Ling Ji, strong and full of love. At this moment, in the soothing melodious music, I feel the difficulty of growing up and look back on the tender time of childhood.
