Xi Qin, a stringed musical instrument originated in the Tang Dynasty, is generally regarded as the predecessor of Erhu. Xiao Xi Qin, a modified instrument of the traditional Xi Qin, has a brighter and rounder tone. In this piece of music derived from a traditional folk song, Xiao Xi Qin plays a light and revolving melody with a soft and melodious chord, which vividly depicts the vivid scene of a graceful willow tree trembling in the breeze.
