The duet version of Fritz Spindler's "Silence" is played by Xiaoxiang Xilan, the lead of B station up, on the clarinet and guzheng

Composed by Fritz Spindler

Adapted by Xiaoxiang Xilan

Fritz Spindler (1817-1905 Germany), a niche composer of a treasure trove, wrote his piano sketch "Silence", which exudes the clarity and brightness of a major work. "Silence" is not as melancholic as a minor. Neruda said, "I like you to be silent," and the atmosphere of that poem is very close to the style of minor music. In this adaptation, I added a minor transition based on the main melody of the original key at 1:05, followed by a minor transition based on the main melody of the original key at 1:18. With several repetitions of the main melody in the middle, I extended this piano sketch that could have been played in just one minute to nearly three minutes. Although it is a keyboard work, after the experiment, you will find that blowing with a wooden pipe is also good because the melody itself belongs to singing. To avoid monotony, a plucked string part is added. On the basis of inheriting the left hand part of the original score, some new counterpoint phrases are also added, incorporating the finger shaking and rapid sequencing techniques of the guzheng plucked music.

Involving the artist

During my university and graduate studies, I have performed piano skills multiple times at literary and artistic events, and collaborated with classical dance, poetry recitation competitions, violin, erhu, and other art forms. The classical charm and fashionable rhythm are vividly portrayed.
