Xiaoxiang Water Clouds "was written by Guo Mian, a pianist from the Zhejiang School in the late Southern Song Dynasty. When the Yuan army went south, Guo Mian moved to the nearby Hengshan Mountain in Hunan Province. He went boating in Xiaoxiang and looked far into Jiuyi Mountains. The mountain was covered by water and clouds, and he sighed with regret that the mountains and rivers were incomplete and the situation was wandering. This song was first seen in the "Magic Secret Score" and consists of ten sections. Later, it developed into eighteen sections with an ending through the development of a pianist. The "Xiaoxiang Water Cloud" has been passed down for over 800 years and is widely circulated. It is recognized as a model of qin music by past qin masters, and there are over 50 existing music scores. Nowadays, most performances are based on Qing Xu Qi's "Wuzhizhai Qin Score".
At first, the sound of the qin was clear and serene, as if standing in a boat amidst the ripples of blue waves and shrouded in clouds and water. It was distant, spacious, and extremely beautiful; In the middle of the song, the strings were mixed and heavy with ups and downs, creating an image of clouds and water surging and rain and wind sweeping through the sky. The mountains and waters were nowhere to be seen, and the boat was undulating in the wind and waves. Depression and anger erupted, with endless worries and fears. In the end, the clouds and smoke dissipated, and the vast expanse of clear waves swept away. The small boat passed away from here, and the mountains and rivers sent the rest of its life.
