For any nation, the drum is the earliest and original musical instrument. The beat, the rhythm, is the original element of music, and our music comes from the resonating chamber of the body, from the beating of the heart, from the pounding of the feet and the beating of the hands at the heart, and from the intermittent rhythmic cries. Drums, from ancient times to today, are very simple and very summoning, as if the body has to obey its call, even the Chinese drum, is the same.

In this Chinese drum, it seems that there are only simple or slow or urgent drums of varying gravity. However, groups of images rush forward, evoking different scenes and time and space, integrating from ancient folk songs, to rites and music of sacrifice and military service, to battlefield campaigns, to ancestral temples, to poetry and opera.
