This Qin Zheng "Old Dragon Crying Sea" was originally a "fan Hu" Qu card. "Mihu", also known as "Mei Hu", is popular in Shaanxi, South Shanxi, west Jiangxi and other places, and is named for its euphemistic melody and charming artistic charm. Its tribute tune is mainly composed of minor tunes, commonly known as "tune opera", literati used to call "Qing Qu". "Many folk songs are first accompanied by vocal songs, then played and sung by themselves, and finally transformed from playing and not singing into pure instrumental music." The key base of Mihu is very rich, with the saying "72 major keys, 36 minor keys". The main key is to sing the sad story, such as the song "Old Dragon crying sea".
The whole piece is divided into four parts: introduction, adagio, allegro and epilogue, which has a complete structure and combines the characteristics of Shaanxi performance techniques. After the introduction, which is as open as the sea, the delicate trills are connected with the glissando, which is beautiful and graceful like crystal. Between the high and low chord tones, there is a deep and sad feeling. The situation and emotions are pushed forward in waves, such as a swimming dragon wagging its tail, rolling over the river, and the sea rage until the end of the increasingly strong, fierce and loud, and finally after a set of overtones, the sound suddenly stops, as if the dragon returns to the deep sea. As this song is transformed from the opera, the solo zheng song also integrates the characteristics of singing and other accompaniment instruments, such as the continuous homophony that often appears in the song, and the sound of drums and gongs in the opera, which can see the picture and the sense of scene.
