The Biography of Shen Qing is one of Pansori's five representative pieces, which originates from the famous classical novels of the Korean nationality. It tells the story of Shen Qing, a filial daughter who is dependent on her blind father, willing to sell herself as a sacrifice to the sea in order to restore her father's eyes, and finally moved the gods with her sacrifice spirit, becoming a queen after many difficulties, and reuniting with her father who has restored her eyesight.
"The Story of the Great Lady" was originally a short song fragment in the Biography of Shen Qing. The female singer first criticizes the misbehavior of women known as "bang-lady" in cadence, conveying the moral values of traditional Korean society. Then the long drum joined, with a sense of power of the drum beat, for the increasingly loud rap, adding a heroic momentum. At the end, the music gradually fades away, and the female singer ends the whole song with a long cry, leaving endless feelings.
