The Qiang people still retain many ancient traditions, including the original animistic polytheistic belief, including a series of sacrificial festivals and traditions such as ancestor worship and mountain worship. Shibi, on the other hand, is the one who can communicate with the gods, connect life and death, preside over a sacrificial ceremony, dispel illness and exorcise evil, and inherit and teach the wisdom of national culture.
"Sheepskin drum dance" is a kind of sacrificial dance performed by Shibi in ritual activities, also known as "dancing Sutra", which is called "Moennasha", "Mordasha" or "Buzla" in Qiang language. In the past, when Qiang people offered sacrifices to gods, exorcized ghosts, sought blessings, returned their wishes and sent the souls of the dead to heaven, Shibi would wear a golden monkey skin hat, hold a divine staff and a dish bell, beat drums, ring bells and sing sutra. Lead the public in a solemn dance that is strong, rough and steady.
