The story of this song originates from the traditional Chinese opera 'Li Huiniang'. During the Southern Song Dynasty, Li Huiniang and Pei Ruiqing fell in love at first sight and entrusted each other for life. Unfortunately, they were both killed by the treacherous minister Jia Sidao. Jia Sidao forcibly took Hui Niang as his concubine, but found that Hui Niang had already been pleased with Rui Qing. He killed Hui Niang and then deceived her into planning to kill Rui Qing. Jiutian Xuannu pities Huiniang's misfortune and helps her soul return to the Jia mansion to rescue Ruiqing and severely punish Jia Sidao. The story is about Li and Pei Xihu meeting and sharing their innermost feelings. Jia Sidao discovers Hui Niang's emotions. The beginning of the music is beautiful and melodious, with the sound of guzheng, pipa, pearls and jade, like the sparkling waves on the West Lake water. The singing style is gentle, like the beauty of West Lake, with a fast-paced rhythm, it is the tense joy of lovers meeting again, or the lament of sadness. The exquisite guzheng is a symbol of lovers' mutual understanding, but now this scene is hard to open one's heart. The melody and singing gradually became heavy, and Jia Sidao began to have murderous thoughts, making people nervous and uneasy. The sunset is like blood, and the scenery of West Lake is shrouded in a bleak mix of life and death joys, separations, love and hate.
